Top 5 Things to do in London, England

Top 5 Things to do in London, England

I recently lived in London for a month. I’ve explored every nook and cranny of this city. Here are my top five things to do.

1. Street Markets

There are hundreds of street markets open daily in London. My favorites include Leather Lane, Brick Lane, Camden, Borough, and Seven Dials. Street markets are great places to find vintage clothing, the best street food in the city, handmade goods, jewelry, and many other little treasures. Whether you’re going shopping for gifts, looking for food, or simply wandering, I highly recommend checking out some of the many street markets this beautiful city has to offer.

2. The National Gallery

📍Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DN

If you’re an art lover like me than making a stop at The National Gallery has to be on your list of things to do in London. Here you can see work by artists like Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh, and many more, up close and personal. And nothing beats seeing your favorite pieces in real life.

3. See a play at the Wanamaker Theater

📍21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, London SE1 9DT

Ever seen a play by candlelight? Well now is your chance. All shows at the Wanamaker Theater in London have no artificial light and instead use a single skylight and candlelight to light the stage. Here you feel like you’re going back in time to when Shakespeare was alive and was sharing his plays with us all.

If you’re not in the mood for a play make sure to watch any of the many performing arts London has to offer. From plays, opera, and musicals, London is the hub for all things creative.

4. Climb to the top of St. Paul’s Cathedral

Although London has many Iconic sites like Big Ben, London Bridge, Parliament, and Buckingham Palace, nothing can compare to the experience of walking up all 528 steps to the top of St. Paul’s Cathedral and seeing London from a bird’s eye view. While the hike to the top can be hard, it’s so worth it once you realize how much of the city you can see.

5. Go to a bookshop

Whether you go to one of the many Waterstones or Foyles that spot the city of London or visit a smaller shop like Word on the Water, going to a bookshop in London is always a good idea. Buy a book, cozy up in a cafe, and get lost in the words.
