A Letter to You
To anyone who’s questioning your sexuality, your identity, or anything else in between. I love you, I’m here for you, this is for you:
Hey beautiful human,
So you figured out some pretty important stuff about yourself, huh? Well, first of all, I want to tell you how proud I am of you. Do you have any idea how amazing it is that you know who you are?!
There are going to be people in life who tell you that you don’t know who you are. They think they know you better than you know yourself. But here’s the truth: Nobody can tell you who you are but you. Nobody knows you but you.
You’re going to find people who don’t accept you. Because as it turns out, people want to believe what they believe more than what is actually true. But that’s okay because you’re going to find even more people who accept you than don’t.
And I’ll let you in on a little secret…labels don’t matter. Right now you might identify as one thing, and that identity may stay the same your whole entire life. Or maybe that label might change in a few months or years, and that’s okay. Who you are as a person is constantly changing. If you learn to ride the ebb and flow of life instead of fighting it, you’ll do just fine.
In this journey, you might feel alone, but you are NEVER alone. You have me, and you have a great big, wonderful, welcoming community waiting with open arms to give you all the support you need. Remember that. At the end of the day, you just gotta make sure you like you, and then all the good people are going to come out of the woodworks because you never would have seen them or known them if you hadn’t have been honest about yourself. It’s the truth.
I can’t tell you that things are going to be easy, but I can tell you that this life of yours is beautiful and absolutely worth living. It may be hard at times, but before you know it, your story is going to help others who are feeling the exact same way you are feeling right now.
If I could pass on just one little piece of advice, I hope you learn that we all go through a lot of scary things, but it’s a lot scarier not being yourself.
I hope you live a life worth remembering every second of. Never let your fear of failure stop you from doing what makes you great.
It gets better. I pinky promise.
I love you, and I’m here for you, always.
